Patient Component

Patient Component Overview

Please answer the following statements

  • You can search by a patient's last name, first name, PHIN, MRN and birthdate as well as their SIN.
  • Global messages are seen by all users but they are only to be used by infection control in order to indicate if a patient is MRSA positive.
  • The MRN is listed in the File Number field in the Patient Demographics tab of the Patients Component.

In Accuro, the PHIN and MRN are shown in generically labelled fields. Indicate what the fields are labelled first in the search area and then in the Demographics tab.

In the Patient component the area above the tabs is the search area. PHIN and MRN are the best and most efficient way to search for a patient. They're also very important identifiers to confirm when confirming a patient's identity, so it's good to know where to find them quickly.

Click on the screenshot below for a refresher on which fields display the MRN and the PHIN.
