  • Each Application Server allows a separate:
    • Presentation-tier,
    • Application-tier and
    • Data-tier
  • The Application Server cannot be used with admin front ends like Jobqueue Info, Designer, Web Designer.
  • A One Identity Manager Job Service will not use an Application Server because
    • The Job Server represents the Application-tier and this is already separated from the Data-tier and in this scenario there is no Presentation-tier
    • The Application Server does not allow execution of plain SQL for security reasons which is necessary for tools like Web Designer, Designer, etc.

The Job Server could be separated from any database connection in a DMZ scenario by using a Gateway Job Server, passing the job information through to a target system connected Job Service

  • This only works for a Job Server not involved in target system synchronization.
  • Business users should use the Web Portal to work with One Identity Manager
  • If an admin front end needs to be secured, Terminal Services should be used.
