Three themes in "Le Petit Prince"

In the slides to follow, I will introduce you to the three most important themes to me based on the novel "Le Petit Prince".  Are they as important to you as they are to me?

Theme # 1: Childhood vs. adulthood

Childhood:

Children have a great imagination and they can look beneath the surface of things (boa constrictor).

Adulthood:

Adults only understand things when they are introduced to the figures or to numbers.

Theme # 2: Friendship

Fox:

Tame me:

But if you tame me, then we shall need each other.

To me, you will be unique in all the world.

To you, I shall be unique in all the world.

Little Prince:

Little Prince

You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed.  The little prince realizes that he has tamed his flower.

The pilot:

Pilot

The pilot has been tamed by the little prince and they have become friends.

Theme # 3: Love

Rose:

Rose

The rose loves the little prince but she hides it from him. She knows that the little prince has to learn for himself what love is and that is why he sets off on his journey.

Little Prince:

Little Prince

He takes care of his rose and he waters her and at night he puts a globe over her so that she is protected.  As he later finds out, he has tamed her. . .

What do you think?

Did you pick one the themes I did pick? Which one?
