Always remember that when you are online, you're still communicating to another human on the other end of the internet, someone who has feelings like you do.

Adhere to the same standards of behavior online that you follow in real life

Always remember that there as still laws to be followed online. 

Know where you are in cyberspace

When you enter a domain that is new to you, take a look around it first. Have a sense of how people who are already there act, then go ahead and participate

Respect other people's time and bandwidth

People nowadays leads a busy lives, just like you do, who don't have a time reading and responding to pointless e-mails, chats and discussion posts. As a virtual world communicator, it is your responsibility to make your writing worth time spending for.

Make yourself look good online

When you write online, you will be judged by the quality of your writing. Here are the tips you may consider when you're writing online:

  • Always check your spelling and grammar errors
  • Know what you’re talking about and state it clearly
  • Be pleasant and polite

Share expert knowledge

If you have something helpful, don't be afraid to share it on the internet. If you've researched a topic that you think would be of interest to others, write it up and post it.

Help keep flame wars under control

Flame War

It is a lengthy exchange of angry or abusive messages between users of an online forum or other discussion area.

  • Always remember that there are still laws you need to follow when you're surfing the internet.


  • If you have something helpful, don’t post in on the internet because you’re not an expert.
