Traditional

Our original concept, Traditional is considered the normal cinema going experience. 

Gold Class

Village Cinemas was the first to introduce Gold Class to the world in 1997, with the first location opening at Crown.

Gold Class is the luxury cinema experience. Guests received personalized waiter service, reclining cinema chairs, intimate theatres and food and beverage seat delivery service.

Vmax

Another Concept introduced by Village Cinemas, Vmax boosts the biggest screens, biggest seats and biggest sound.

It is the best way to see an action packed blockbuster!

Cinema Europa

For an alternate Cinema going experience, Cinema Europa offers a diverse range of films, with a focus on independent and art house content.

Cinema Europa also serves specialty food and beverage, and is targeted towards a more senior demographic.

Drive In

Village Cinemas owns and operates one Drive In Cinema at Coburg. The Coburg Drive In can host over 700 vehicles across its three screens.

Vpremium

Introduced to Jam Factory in 2015, Vpremium offers a just that, a premium going cinema experience.

With seats designed for couples, it is the ultimate date night experience. It also has unique food and beverage offerings.

Vjunior

Introduced to Southland in 2016, Vjunior is a cinema for kids, designed by kids. With a foyer play area, and an in-cinema slide the fosuc of this cinema is on kids being kids.

With three different types of seats including red recliner lounges, yellow bean bag chairs and traditional chairs for the parents, coupled with a unique food and beverage offering, Vjunior is the natural way for children to enter the cinema world.

4DX

The newest addition to our range of concepts, 4DX opened at Century City in 2017. This concept is designed to completely immerse the guest in the cinema experience. With moving chairs, wind, water and scent effects the guest will feel part of the film!

Rocs

Named after our found, Roc's bar is located at the Jam Factory and is the first cinema free experience we offer.

An indulgent bar with a great range of spirits and cocktails, Rocs is the perfect place to get your chill on.

1940 Rooftop Bar

Rivoli Cinemas in Camberwell plays home to the 1940 Rooftop bar.

A refreshing experience, 1940 is the second of our hospitality ventures.

Clean Ironed Shirt – Tucked in, sleeves rolled down and collars properly folded

Clean Ironed Pants - Properly hemmed.

Vests (as per concept) – Cleaned, ironed and buttoned up .

Apron (as per concept) – Cleaned and ironed, worn on the waist not the hips.

Nametag – Correct name, worn on the left side of chest.

NAME TAGS MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES

YOU WILL NEED TO PROVIDE

UNDERWEAR - Appropriate under-garments only. These must remain covered and unseen at all times on shift.

SOCKS / TIGHTS – Must be black & must be worn at all times.

BELT – Black leather only.

SHOES – BLACK, FLAT, closed toed, polished leather, rubber soles

Film Ratings

General

Suitable for everyone, including children as the content is very mild in impact. Parents should be aware that G may sometimes feature material that is not always of interest to children.

Parental Guidance

Content is mild in impact. Some movies may contain scenes that children find confusing or upsetting and may require the guidance of parents. You should consider whether the content may upset younger, or more sensitive children.

Mature Audiences

Content is moderate in impact. Films and video games classified M are recommended for people aged 15 years and over.

RESTRICTED

Restricted category material. This means there are legal restrictions in place which limits who can be supplied with a film, DVD or video game that has a restricted classification. In regard to MA15+ (Mature Accompanied), this classification is legally restricted to people 15 years and over, because the content is considered to be strong in impact. Children under 15 years may not legally watch, buy or hire MA 15+ classified material unless they are with a parent or adult guardian. You must purchase the movie ticket or video game for the child. A person may also be asked by the cinema or retailer to show proof of age.

RESTRICTED

Restricted category material. This means there are legal restrictions in place which limits who can be supplied with a film, DVD or video game that has a restricted classification. In regards to R18+, this classification is legally restricted to people 18 years and over, because the content is considered to be strong in impact. Persons under the age of 18 may not legally watch, buy or hire R18+ classified material under any circumstances. 

Piracy

Piracy: The Facts

Threat: The Australian screen industry contributes an estimated $5.3 billion to the Australian economy each year. The jobs of close to 50,000 Australians employed by the film and television industries could be threatened by piracy. A recent study found that $1.37 billion in revenue was lost to the Australian economy as a whole and 6,100 jobs were forgone as a result of movie theft alone.

Big Problem: An estimated one in four Australians have participated in some form of film and TV piracy. Although film and TV pirates cite a number of excuses for their behavior, the primary motivator for Australians of all ages pirating movies and TV shows is that it is free.

The screen industry's continued viability and its ability to invest in creating new content that Australian audiences love, relies on its ability to choose how to distribute their content - which is their legal right. Copyright can be a complex issue but it really comes down to a very simple concept - the freedom to choose. Those who own the copyright in a film or a TV show have the right to choose when, how, and if they wish to distribute their creative work - whether for hire, for sale or to be made available for free.

Sharing is beneficial for everyone if it's yours to share. If it's not yours to share then you may be exploiting the hard work of others - behavior best described as "freeloading".

  • As a team member you are unable to become a Vrewards Member however we receive fantastic staff benefits as part of the Village Staff Club.

Key Performance Indicators

Spend per Person

Also known as SPP, this will be the most common KPI referred to on shift. 

SPP is simple. It is the amount of money your Site has made in a given time peroid, divided by the number of admissions in the same given time period.

For example: Between 12pm and 2pm you have made $2500. In the same time period you have had 700 admissions. 

2500 / 700 = $3.57

Strike Rate

Another easy one, Strike Rate. This is the number of your concession transactions (transactions where you have sold Food or Beverage) in a given time period divided by your total admissions in the same time period.

For example: Between 12pm and 2pm you've completed 175 concession transactions. In the same time period you have had 700 admissions.

(175 x 100) / 700 = 25%

Average Sale

Average Sale is a KPI you can have a great effect on because it relies on your selling abilities.

Your Average Sale is calculated by totaling your concession revenue (Food and Beverage Sales) in a given time period and dividing it by your total number of concession transactions.

For example: Between 12pm and 2pm you have made $2500. In the same time period you have completed 175 transactions. 

2500 / 175 = $14.29  

Combo %

Again Combo % is a KPI you can have a great impact on because it relies on your knowledge of our offers and your ability to bundle items for guests into combos.

Combo % is the number of your Combo Sales in a given time period, divided by your total number of concession transactions.

For example: Between 12pm and 2pm you sold 90 Combos in total. In the same time period you have completed 175 concession transactions.

(90 x 100) / 175 = 51%

Up-sell %

Up-sell % or Upgrade % requires strong selling techniques, and an intimate knowledge of our products. 

Your Up-sell % is the number of Bolt On's you have sold in a given time period, divided by the number of Combos you have sold in the same time period.

For example: Between 12pm and 2pm you sold 60 Bolt Ons in total. In the same time period you sold 90 Combos.

(60 x 100) / 90 = 66%

  • Staff Benefits are only allocated once a month on the 15th of the month
  • Casual Team Members: Receive 4 Complimentary Traditional Tickets a Month
  • Part Time Team Members: Receive 8 Complimentary Traditional Tickets a Month
  • Gold Class: You are able to purchase Gold Class Tickets for $15 each in accordance with the below conditions. Sessions Monday to Wednesday Anytime. Sessions Thursday and Friday before 5pm. You are always at Manager discretion which is based on how busy the session is.
  • 4DX: You are able to purchase 4DX Tickets for $10 each in accordance with the below conditions. Sessions Monday to Wednesday Anytime. Sessions Thursday and Friday before 5pm. You are always at Manager discretion which is based on how busy the session is.

There is also a range of Traditional Food and Beverage discounts. Here are the main ones:

  • Large Staff Combo: 2 Large Drinks and 1 Large Popcorn - $7
  • Medium Staff Combo: 1 Medium Drink and 1 Medium Popcorn - $5
