Mutual Evaluation Report [MER] Process

The mutual evaluation is done by peers, AML/CFT experts from other countries, and includes off-site as well as on-site parts.

The assessment teams consist of five to six experts from different disciplines. The FATF Secretariat supports the assessors.

The mutual evaluation takes 14 months and has six major steps: country training, desk-based technical compliance assessment, scoping note, on-site visit, face-to-face meeting, plenary discussion and approval.

The product of the mutual evaluation is the mutual evaluation report, which provides the findings of the assessors.
