Creating a BIM Execution Plan Course

Step 1 - BIMX Plan Template

Create BIMX Plan from Word Template

The first step to creating your BIM Execution Plan is to browse to the template within Microsoft Word. If you click File> New> My templates you will see a tab for BIM Execution Plan. Newer versions of Microsoft Word will have the word "Shared" to click on and access the templates.

Step 2 - Creating BIMX Plan

LS3P BIM Execution Plan Template

By clicking on the LS3P BIM Execution Plan tab, you will see four Word templates. The first template, 0_LS3P BIMX Plan, is the plan document while the other three are attachments to this document. Every Revit project should at least have a BIMX Plan regardless of the size of the project.  Once you click on the template, a new document will be created. Then save the document to your project folder naming it "BIMX Plan_Project Name.docx", which is now ready for editing.

Step 3 - Editing the BIMX Plan

Cover Page

The first page of the BIMX Plan is the Cover Page. You should start by typing in the relevant information for your project such as the Project Name, City and State, and LS3P Project Number. You can also add a Project Image and a List of Consultants. To edit the footer, simply double-click in that area. When you're finished editing the footer, double-click back in the body of the document.

Table of Contents

Table of Contents

The second page of the BIMX Plan is the Table of Contents Page. This page lists all of the sections of the BIMX Plan along with their sheet numbers. The sheet numbers act as hyperlinks in the document by holding down the CTRL key and clicking on the number.
