Project lifecycle 101

Find out how you can make sure that your project plan is successful!

Identify the five basic steps of the project lifecycle.

What is the main skill that make your project life cycle successful?

The lifecycle of a project and the skills required of a project manager and her/his team link together perfectly. And one of the main skills that stands out from the rest is communication.  It links into each and every step of a project lifecycle and therefor makes it the key to success. Whether it’s conceiving and defining the project or briefing the team and stakeholders. It makes collaborating with your team and stakeholders easier, which then makes it easier to go from one phase to the next. Peter Drucker said “ The most important thing in communication is hearing what isn’t said” and therefor it is vital that everyone is heard and on the same page when it comes to defining the project as it lays the foundation for a well planned project. When it comes to the planning phase, clear goals should have been set already, so that when it comes to the briefing phase everyone is aligned and that everyone’s roles and responsibilities are clear. When implementing the project one should monitor it regularly to make sure that every stakeholder is keeping to the original plan and goals that were set. This makes it easier to then evaluate the project and close it off. In conclusion it is crucial that the project team that is chosen have the required skills as discussed in module one and that communication is key.
