Facebook Introduction

Introduction To Facebook

Facebook is a popular free social networking website that allows registered users to create profiles, upload photos and video, send messages and keep in touch with friends, family and colleagues. The site, which is available in 37 different languages, includes public features such as:

  • Marketplace - allows members to post, read and respond to classified ads.
  • Groups - allows members who have common interests to find each other and interact.
  • Events  - allows members to publicize an event, invite guests and track who plans to attend.
  • Pages - allows members to create and promote a public page built around a specific topic.
  • Presence technology - allows members to see which contacts are online and chat.

Facebook is a leading platform for cosmetics industry based affiliates, marketers and influencers to build a large following of potential followers. Facebook is unquestionably the largest social network in the world with over a billion and a half monthly active users and over a billion daily active users.

Creating Your Facebook Fan Page aka Business Page

Creating A Facebook Fan Page

I the previous two training courses we have discussed branding yourself. You are your greatest business asset and how you choose to brand yourself will increase your profits, marketing stats and how quickly you see results. From here on out during each training course you will need to keep in mind what brand and image you are trying to promote to your followers. Tailor what you are learning to your brand and make it work for you. Keep in mind that you are a business professional selling cosmetics and will need to market above and beyond your personal Facebook page (by creating a fan page).

To effectively market on Facebook, you will need to create a Facebook Fan page. You will use this page to build a follower base, market and communicate with your audience daily. Start by clicking on the dropdown menu button to the top right on Facebook, pick the create a page option. We are not going to go step by step on every option you will be asked by Facebook to create your page. We will simply go over a few things we think you should know to get your fan page setup.

After clicking on Create a Page:

Choose either (Brand or Product or Artist page), (Brand or Public Figure page) based on your brand image. If you are a spa owner, you may also want to use the Local Business or Place page. Look around online at a few of your favorite influencers or brand ambassadors to see how they have their Facebook pages listed.

Once the type of page has been choosing name your page something short and catchy, that can be easily remembered (that matches your brand).

Write a small bio in your description, giving your followers an idea of what to expect your page to be about. You can also openly say that you are a Brand Ambassador for Goddess Cosmetics in your heading. Since you should already be setup on Instagram and have determined your brand. Simply create a Facebook page that matches the brand and personality you have already setup on Instagram.

Add your affiliate link to your profile description under website

Put up an awesome profile picture of yourself in makeup or an image of your brand. Remember we all have different makeup styles and looks we prefer. Simply have a picture up that speaks to your personal style. One thing I can tell you that you must do is have a physical picture of yourself, as your profile picture. People are going to be following you and must trust you enough to purchase from you. They will not buy cosmetics from someone who has a cheetah as their profile picture.

Add content aka lots and lots of pictures. Before you even start trying to find followers you must have a profile with at least 10 images. Think of these images as your storefront. They need to look good, be clear and look visually appealing. A potential follower will take 30 seconds to decide if they want to follow your page. The decision to do so will be based on the pictures being displayed on the page.

Content

Marketing On Facebook

Content is the most important thing you must master on Facebook to be successful. We are going to discuss several ways to post content on Facebook.

Your Funnel Aka Selling Process

One of the most important things a marketer who has been properly trained learns is how to create a marketing funnel. In simple terms this refers to the steps you want a prospect to follow to become a customer (in our case). We are going to take the time to briefly discuss a simple funnel, because you need to have a clear understanding of what you are trying to do with your Facebook Marketing. The funnel below is not a complete funnel as we will not discuss sending outside traffic to your page nor how to get a prospect back on the funnel that falls off. This will be done much later in a different training module.

Facebook Funnel

1) Post content to Facebook Page

2) Traffic comes in and lands on posted content

3) Responds to your call to action in the post/ or clicks through to website from affiliate link

4) Lands on Goddess Cosmetics website or offer

5) They convert or leave (aka makes a purchase or become a brand ambassador)

You are posting content to your Facebook Page to send targeted traffic to our website, when and if that traffic converts you get paid. Therefore, the content you post and what you want your followers to do needs to be clear and concise. To ensure they follow your 5-step funnel.

Use Images and Videos for Your Content Updates

People love images and videos; they can also be seen easily on Facebook News Feed, which makes them easy to engage with.

Wish pond’s data says that posts that include photos receive 120% more engagement than the average post, while posts that include photo albums received 180% more engagement.

Leverage Your Existing Follower Base

The average daily active user on Facebook is 1 billion, according to a 2016 report. And a certain percentage of that billion could be your next potential customers.

If you want to use Facebook to maximum advantage, you need to post content for your target audience with consistency. Your goals should be either to educate, to entertain, or to empower them.

There are also some Facebook posting statistics that you might want to consider when creating content to leverage your existing follower base:

  • Using emoticons increases comments by 33% and makes posts be shared 33% more often and get liked 57% more often than posts without emoticons (source: AMEX OPEN Forum infographic.)
  • Question posts get more comments.

Encouraging Fan Page Engagement

Step 1. Post updates regularly. We will discuss a good starting rotation later in this training course.

Step 2. Besides asking questions ask for opinions on products with images like above. People love to answer questions, and this will drum up activity between your page and your fans.

Step 3. Cross promote your fan page activity across your other networks. When you ask questions on your Facebook fan page, tweet the question and link to the fan page (if the question is going to be the top item for awhile) or link directly to the status update with the question itself. To grab the direct link to a status update, right click on the time stamp for the update and copy the URL.

Step 4. Host “events” or "contests" on your Facebook Fan page and cross promote them. Host Facebook Live Video events, of you wearing our products. Show your physical bottles of the products and let everyone know about how you love it. Setup question and answer sessions on how to wear or use certain products. The point here is that the live events do not have to be recruiting or hard selling events. Just go live and broadcast your message having fun and promote your brand. Educating your followers will generate more sales for you than direct selling posts.

Videos

Facebook is a platform that works very well with video marketing do not forget to take advantage of how easy it is for videos to go viral on Facebook. They are guaranteed to end up in the News Feeds on Facebook.

Links

Unlike Instagram you can include your affiliate link directly into your Facebook posts. The only thing you must remember is that you do not want to include a link with every post you make. Follow the 2 normal posts to 1 direct selling or linking post.

Use the Facebook Plugins

Integrating Facebook Plugins on your website will give you more advantages on branding awareness and followers increase on Facebook. For blogs or websites with sidebars, you may want to use the Facebook Like Box or Like Button.

For your website pages and blog posts, it is best to use the Like Button, although you can use them both! You may want to consider doing experiments on what’s the best Facebook plug-in for your website.

Engage with Other Facebook Pages

You might want to engage with other Facebook pages using your Facebook page account. Find those Facebook pages where your customers hang out.

Your comment will serve as a link toward your page that can lead to an additional like or following (see below image). You could convert those “likes as fans” into “likes for conversions.”

Posting

Posting

(For the ease of not having to refer to week 1 training course the posting information will be repeated here, with a few changes to Facebook.) To build your follower base you must provide lots of content and daily. You must be selective in how you deliver that content and how it looks on your page. This is where things get a bit hectic because to be successful you must post content more than once a day on Facebook. The content you do post cannot always be about selling products or services. If you do people will stop following you, because no one wants to be sold to all day long.

What to Post

Do 2-3 non-selling posts in a row and then do one selling post. I call this the 3 to 1 principle. Let's say that we have a promotion for $5.00 off Star Crystals and you would like to promote it. You take pictures of yourself wearing Star Crystals and will post 4 times today. (If you don’t have any Star Crystals, procure pictures of women wearing glitter eye eyeshadow, using what was taught in the previous section.)

Post 1: Hey guys look at me starting my day looking like a princess. (with a picture of you in Star Crystals)

Post 2: Another cute pick of me today... (with a different picture of you in Star Crystals)

Post 3: Tell a joke, ask a question or post an image of a quote of the day.

Post 4: Post a close of you wearing Star Crystals and openly advertise by saying: Star Crystals in #twilight is on sale. Get $5 Off today.

How Often to Post

As discussed  above you should post2- 3 times a day at minimum to build your audience and send traffic to your affiliate link. For Facebook, there really is no peak traffic stats to post regarding how long is the peak shelf-life of a post. Although on Instagram posts peak within 2 hours of posting.

When to Post

I am going to give you 3 target times to post, but Facebook only has a daily 4-hour optimal posting time. Making posting 3 times a day not always optimal. You must keep tabs on your traffic to determine the most responsive times of your followers. If you notice that the traffic you get from posting before 1pm is just not optimal you can downgrade Facebook posting to twice a day instead of 3 times.

Early Morning: 9am

Lunch: 1:00 pm

Late Night: 3pm

How on Earth Am I Going to Post 2- 3 Times A Day on Two Platforms?

Good question! The answer will be to use a service called Buffer, it allows you to save your weekly posting rotation. You would simply put in the content you want to post to Facebook and it will post that content on the next available date and time setup for your rotation. You can spend one day a week putting in all your Instagram & Facebook posting content in Buffer. Buffer will then post that content for you during the week.

Example:

My posting rotation for Instagram is M-F at 8am, 1pm and 7pm and once on Saturday and Sunday at 1pm. My posting rotation for Facebook is M-F at 1pm and 3pm and once on Saturday and Sunday at 1pm. These times have been programmed into Buffer. It is currently Tuesday at 7am and I have 10 posts that I have created content for. I would click on Instagram and Facebook in Buffer and type in my content along with adding my image for the post. I would do this for all 10 of the posts I have content for. After saving the content to my Buffer calendar. Buffer will begin the first post I put in to Facebook and Instagram for me at the dates and times I have setup. So in our scenario. It's 7am at 8am today my first post will be posted to my Instagram page for me at 8am and my Facebook account at 1pm today. My second content post will be posted to Instagram at 1pm and to Facebook at 3pm. The third content post out of the 10 in put in will post to Instagram at 7pm and tomorrow on Facebook at 1pm. The cycle continues until no more post are available.

In Week 1's Training course I gave more information on Buffer and how it posts in a slightly different way on Instagram than on other platforms. Refer to that course for more information should you need a refresher. There is one last point that I think is very important we go over. I will be teaching you who to maximize your time and posting the same content to your different platforms. What I mean by this is I do not post different content to all my different social media platforms. I post the same information with slight changes based on the differences in the platforms. You do not need to create completely different posts for each platform.

Gaining Followers

Building A Follower Base

Under the video portion of this training course you will get to hear some ideas on how to grow your follower base. But for now, I am going to discuss how to do so with a technique taken from forum marketing & Influencer Marketing.

Influencer Marketing Technique Using Facebook Groups

This technique is taken from affiliate forum marketing, where you would join an industry based forum. Participate in discussions on makeup and beauty and leave comments in response to questions. You generally cannot openly try to sell or post your affiliate link in the comments you make. But within some Facebook Groups you that do not have a community manager you will have openly posted links. You will need to look around the groups before you job to make sure they have a moderator.

You will use this same technique on Facebook but with a different twist. You are going to create and/or join Facebook Groups for the cosmetics and beauty industry.

Create or Join Facebook Groups

Facebook had two types of groups that are of interest to us open and closed.

Open Group. Anyone can see the group, who’s in it, and what members post. Open groups are mainly used to build awareness, authority, and interest in your brand. This is the best group if you want to establish yourself as an expert and to network with others in your industry. The focus that you should do on open groups is not selling but rather participation and interactions. This would be a great group to join and network within the industry, answer questions and promote your brand by posting to the groups from you Fan Page. This would send traffic back to your page that could turn into potential buyers.

Closed Group. Anyone can see the group and who’s in it. Only members see posts. Closed groups are best to use for customer support purposes. For example, we are using Closed Group for one of my clients’ current customers who want to share ideas with other users. We also use this for customer support and solve problems. This group would be a great group to create for recruiting a downline and helping each other with marketing techniques that are working for those in your group. (Closed groups are more likely to have a moderator.)

Sample Scenario

Step 1: Join a Facebook Group focused on the beauty and cosmetics industry. Your goal as a member remains the same as the funnel we discussed earlier in this module. Except the traffic is not originating from your page but instead will be coming from the Group.

Start or join in on discussions in the group. Your goal here is to get people to view your profile and click on your affiliate link that is a part of your profile page, or follow your page.

Every time you comment on a post, people will read that post and if they click on your profile to find out more about you. Your affiliate link will be a part of your profile. This will send them straight to Goddess Cosmetics and if they make a purchase you get paid.

Step 2:  Follow the page of an industry celebrity, company, Facebook celebrity personality or a big industry influencer page. Once you follow the page, you first need to try to get them to follow you back. To do this look through their images and posts, like some of them. This main profile is your host profile and the one you will use to build a following. The only difference here with Facebook is that you are not allowed to see a list of the followers on the page. So how you are going to find followers to follow is by viewing the likes, and comments on the page. You can see profiles that have left comments and liked content on the page. Check back in 24 hours those who have not followed you back, unfollow. For those not interested or don’t have the time to join a Facebook Group. Simply focus on this step to build your follower base. It works if you spend time doing it several times a week.

Step 3: Rinse and repeat. I suggest spending 30 minutes to an hour doing this daily. When it’s time for you to do it again the next day. Remember to unfollow anyone in step 2 that did not follow you back except your host account.

More Marketing Tips For Facebooks

Introduction To Course Videos

We believe in Word of Mouth Marketing better known as Shoutout marketing. The concept stems from the awareness that people are more likely to believe a peer or normal person than a company's promotional video. To put this information into practice, instead of creating videos telling you these techniques will work. We have chosen to curate videos from people killing it on social media giving advice in their own words. We have made sure to give credit to the video owners, did not alter their video in anyway and if you would like to like or follow them please do.
