Mission to Mars: Volunteer Orientation
Welcome to 'MISSION TO MARS: VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION"
Did you ever wonder..........
Could we ever reach out into our galaxy to find life and planets on which to live?
If so, you have the curiosity to join us and explore .............. LET'S GET STARTED
A Little Introduction
SpaceX - Advancing the Future
The Vision and Mission of SpaceX
SpaceX was born from the drive, determination and brilliance of our CEO and Lead Designer, Elon Musk.
SpaceX is a space transport services company whose mission is to reduce space transportation costs and enable the colonization of Mars.
SpaceX has gained worldwide attention for a series of historic milestones. SpaceX’s achievements include the first privately funded, liquid-fueled rock to reach orbit (2010); the first privately funded company to launch, orbit and recover a spacecraft; the first private company to send a satellite into geosynchronous orbit; and the first private company to send a spacecraft to the ISS (2012) — a technically challenging feat previously accomplished only by governments. Since then Dragon has delivered cargo to and from the space station multiple times, providing regular cargo resupply missions for NASA.
Here is a brief overview of of SpaceX.

Now Let us See SpaceX in Action
“If one can figure out how to effectively reuse rockets just like airplanes, the cost of access to space will be reduced by as much as a factor of a hundred. A fully reusable vehicle has never been done before. That really is the fundamental breakthrough needed to revolutionize access to space.”
Let's take the opportunity to go over a few highlights of SpaceX in Learning Moment#1

Which companies are SpaceX partners?NASA and Boeing
Mission to the Red Planet
Earth to Mars
Many space enthusiasts dream of the day when there will be a manned mission to the “Red Planet".
Like Earth, Mars revolves around the Sun, although on a different path than Earth does. Mars is between 34.6 and 63 million miles away, depending on what year it is.
Be prepared for a long trip.
Astronauts will be exposed to cosmic rays and other radiation. There will be prolonged exposure to a low-gravity, low-light environment. There must be fuel as well as oxygen, water, and food for astronauts on an extended mission. Mars has a very thin atmosphere that would not normally support human life.

The whole world will be watching. There will be successes. Things will go wrong.
How do you cope?
Troubleshooting on Mars - Are you Innovative, Calm and Determined?
How well do you perform under pressure?
As you can tell by now, we love movies! And Matt Damon as a subject matter expert botanist is a likely scenario.
Would you survive?
Let's do a little recap in Learning Moment #2
Learning Moment #2
Crews will be departing for the manned mission colony to Mars in .
The Red Planet has a solar day that is of approximately of hours, similar to that of Earth.
Travel time to Mars may be no less than months for the initial trips. To maintain success for the colony, constant will be needed.
Reflection and Evaluation
The Stakes are High
We will not sugarcoat the Mission. Space volunteers will probably never come back home. The months' long journey to reach Mars, at 140 million miles away, will be extremely dangerous and difficult.
"It’s dangerous and probably people will die — and they’ll know that," Mr. Musk has explained. This Mission will be comparable to he colonists that crossed the Atlantic Ocean centuries ago.
We applaud our volunteers who "want to be the pioneers."
What do you want to do?
The Step to the Next Stage of Participation - Are you Making the Right Decision?
- I have thought about the Mars Mission carefully and I am confident that I would like to participate
- I have not fully considered the personal, physical and other conditions regarding the Mission to Mars. I need more time to consider
- I have thought about the Mars Mission carefully and I do not wish to participate further.
