Ways To Apply For Medi-Cal



Application at CalWORKs Bureaus for GA – A4NT

When a customer applies in person for General Assistance at a CalWORKs Bureau, their appointment is scheduled at 28th St. When the customer completes their interview, Eligibility Specialists process their pending Medi-Cal.

  • These will be assigned to A4NT. The SOF will be printed and signed at their interview appointment and Document Imaged. This is considered a valid application for Medi-Cal
  • Pending Medi-Cal is assigned to A4NT.

CalWORKs No Shows – A80B

When a customer applies for CalWORKs, Medi-Cal is added during Application Registration. If the customer no shows to their appointment, the pending Medi-Cal is transferred to A80B.

  • These will likely not have a complete Medi-Cal application available. We will need to ensure that the CDS 147 is sent to the customer, when appropriate.
  • Pending Medi-Cal is assigned to A80B.

Mail In Applications – A80B

When a customer applies for through the mail, Application Registration is completed by clerical at 28th St. Clerical creates a M3D task and assigns it to green group. These should be processed and reviewed for MAGI eligibility first.

  • If the case is not E-Verified or if Non-MAGI eligibility exists, a MC 355 should be sent and a MACFGA 10 Day APP Review Task (MC10) created.
  • Pending Medi-Cal is assigned to A80B.

MyBCW Applications – A80B

When a customer applies online, Application Registration is completed by clerical at 28th St. The MyBCW application is uploaded to FileNet. Clerical creates a M3D task and assigns it to green group.

  • The customer can choose to attach verifications when submitting the application. A review of FileNet should be made for Ex-Parte.
  • Pending Medi-Cal is assigned to A80B.

In Person At 28th St – A4NT & A80B

When a customer applies in person at 28th St for MACF or MACFGA, they are offered an appointment. Customers who do not show for their appointment may or may not have a complete Medi-Cal application available.

  • If there is no application available, we need to update CalWIN. Choose “Yes” from the Collect Case Summary Detail – Programs Requested tab, under the Application Complete dropdown.
  • Pending Medi-Cal is assigned to A4NT or A80B.

In Person At 28th St – A80B

Customers may turn in a SAWS1 or SC 104 at 28th St. Customers are not required to complete an interview for Medi-Cal. Customers are given a packet with a Medi-Cal application to complete and return.

  • Eligibility Specialists must complete a review of the case to determine if the application is available. Customer contact should be attempted to obtain a complete application, if needed.
  • Pending Medi-Cal is assigned to A80B.

Phone Application– A80B

Customers may apply for Medi-Cal over the phone. These calls may have been received by yellow or blue groups. If the customer has pending verifications, the case is assigned to A80B. The application and Telephonic Signature is included in case comments.

  • Case comments should be reviewed, a CDS 147 should not be sent to these customers.
  • Pending Medi-Cal is assigned to A80B.
