The project manager and the team needs specific skills in each of the 5 phases of the project life cycle which will add to the successful implementation of your project.

Adaptability - One of the main skills needed by each member of the team is that of flexibility and adaptability. The team members need to be able to adapt themselves to suit the different phases of the project cycle.
Good communication and articulation skills – It is important for the project manager as well as the project team members to be able to communicate effectively. They will be responsible for keeping the stakeholders updated on the progress of the project and they need to be able to clearly define the objectives of the project as well as give an update on the status.
Conflict Resolution skills – This is particularly important for the project manager. Because a project team will consist of various members from different disciplines, there will be some conflict and the manager will need to be able to manage this effectively and steer the team in the right direction.
Good organizing skills – The project team members need to have good organizing skills, especially when in the planning phase. They need to prepare the plan and schedules and draw up a project progress report.
Negotiation Skills – The project manager will need to be a good negotiator. He /she needs to negotiate for the resources that is needed for the successful completion of the project.
Financial Management Skills – The project manager will need financial management skills to be able to effectively complete the project within the budget parameters agreed upon. Budgets are usually very tight for specific project and without this skill, the project is at risk of failing.
