Radio System
The radio system is used to facilitate communication between employees. Remember that this is a work tool, that many employees listen to you and that patrons can hear you. Your conversation should be professional and brief.

Radios must remain in their blue bags at all times when you are outdoors since they are not completely water resistant. Before leaving the staff room, take the necessary equipment with you and verify that your radio is working. At the end of the day, put the radio back in the charging stand so t is ready for use the next day.

When using the radio system, begin your communication by presenting yourself using the name of your location. Then mention the person you are addressing. When this person answers, use the radio codes to communicate.
Code 1: Minor injury (eg scratches, bruises, nose bleed). A head lifeguard is not necessary. Before calling a head lifeguard, ask the patron if he can walk to the first aid office.

Code 2: Major injury (eg fracture, pain in the spine). The presence of a head lifeguard is required. You need help. The patron’s life is not in immediate danger.

Code 3: Injury that is life threatening (eg heart attack, unconscious victim). Assistance must be provided immediately.
