Concept of Environmental Education
Environmental education focuses on making people aware of environmental issues and promotes an understanding of the relationship between humans and their surrounding environment. As people gain a greater understanding of environmental issues, it is hoped that concern for these issues will follow. The best way to promote awareness for environmental issues and promote environmentally responsible behaviours is through increased access to environmental education.
Environmental education refers to organized efforts to teach about how natural environments function and particularly how human beings can manage their behavior and ecosystems in order to live sustainably.
Environmental education has an ability to solve the societal needs, the needs of a community problem and their solutions and workforce for tackling cooperative mind.
We need the school children to share and develop the motivation from school about various environmental issues, which are the challenges of today and prepare them for the future.
Environmental education can be thought of as comprising three linked components:

Objectives of EE
The objectives of environmental education is to increase public awareness about environmental issues, as explore possible solutions and to lay the foundations for a fully informed and active participation of individual in the protection of environment and the sensible and rational use of natural resources.
ü Awareness: To help individuals and social groups acquire an awareness of and sensitivity to the total environment and its allied problems.
ü Knowledge: To help individuals and social groups acquire basic understanding of the total environment and its associated problems.
ü Attitude: To help individuals and social groups acquire values, strong feelings of concern for the environment and the motivation for actively participating in its protection and improvement.
ü Skills: To help individuals and social groups acquire the skills for solving environmental problems.
ü Evaluation ability: To help individuals and social groups evaluate environmental measures and education programs in terms of ecological, political, social, aesthetic and education factors.
ü Participation: To help individuals and social groups develop a sense of responsibility and urgency regarding environmental problems to ensure appropriate action to solve their problems.

Environmental education must involve everyone. Because of its very nature and importance, environmental education cannot be confined to any one group in our society. It is a responsibility for everyone-government, industry, the media, educational institutions, community groups as well as individuals.

ü There must be better communicative links between those people working and learning on environmental issues and between various groups dealing with environmental issues
